Self-Improvement Patterns of Jesus: 12 Secrets to Revolutionize Your Life - Part III
By Paul Davis

Jesus of Nazareth was perhaps the greatest man, most loving individual and powerful leader of all time. His personal sacrifice and resurrection has brought countless people back to life from monumental setbacks, not to mention hell, death and the grave.

How can we model Jesus and implement His proven techniques in our own lives?

Here are 12 secrets to unlock your hidden potential, revolutionize your life and get you moving in victory en route to fulfilling your dreams.

Today we pick up where we left off from Part II and resume our revealing of the success secrets of Jesus.

8.Don't be distracted from your appointed destination and divine purpose.

Many are the devices of men and the enemy to divert us from our destiny, derail us from our purpose and distract us from that which is most important.

One thing Jesus did that assured His success and enabled Him to maintain His ongoing focus was to shut the door on distractions.

But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut the door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which sees in secret shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:6)

Even our prayers can get distracted and be hindered if we don't shut the door on distractions. In order to patiently possess our own soul we must first shut out distractions.

When Jesus entered the ruler's house, he saw the flute players there. And he saw the noisy crowd. He said, Go away. The girl is not dead. She is sleeping. But they laughed at him. After the crowd had been sent outside, Jesus went in. He took the girl by the hand, and she got up. (Matthew 9:23-24)

Many times things crowding and bombarding against our mind and life need to be put out. We need to regain our clarity of focus and renew our minds. Upon doing so, we can access our greatness, step into the miraculuos and thereby manifest our best.

9.Master your Emotions

Jesus said, In your patience you possess your souls. (Luke 21:19)

Possessing your soul and all of its inner parts is vital to assure mental and emotional well-being. Your soul consists of your mind, will power and emotions. The emotions are the most colorful aspect of your personality. Yet simultaneously they can be the most turbulent and troubling if not regulated and restrained.

Jesus accessed all of His emotions and permitted them free expression. When His friend Lazarus died, Jesus wept. (John 11:35)

Jesus also knew when to see things from a higher perspective and thereby restrain His emotions.

When Mary stood outside the tomb weeping, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?

Mary supposed Him to be the gardener and did not recognize Jesus.

Suddenly Jesus said to her, Mary! She then turned and said to Him, Rabboni! (which is to say, Teacher). Jesus said to her, Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God. (John 20:11-17)

Sometimes our emotions cling to the wrong thing or person. It is in these circumstances that we need to be aware of and be mindful of God's higher purpose.

10.Harness and govern your bodily appetites.

The flesh if left unruled will lead your lustfully along a deadly path. Jesus recognized and told us The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. (Matthew 26:41)

As Christ allowed His own flesh to be crucified for humanity, soo too must we crucify our flesh and not permit it to gratify its hurtful lusts.

The apostle Paul said: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

As we therefore embrace Christ's death so too can we then also enter into the power of His resurrection!

The more we subdue our flesh to the moving of the Holy Spirit within and through us, the greater will be the glory of God upon us. (Romans 8) A life full of God's glory is a life worth living! In the Presence of the Lord is fullness of joy! (Psalm 16:11)
